The Oz Goose is fast (measured to 13.8knots (15mph) but is a great family boat that sails well with two adults and a bunch of kids aboard.
The Goose is a simple stable sailboat for one or more persons.
It is also fast – here is Ian Henehan’s goose at 10 to 12 knots (20 to 24 km/h). Current speed record is on a tideless lake in the Philippines – 13.8 knots.
It can carry a whole family and sails well with an adult instructor and two learners – even in very light wind. Experienced sailors – note here the changing angle of heel and how the rudder stays central – very nice handling qualities and the video shows that speed is no problem at all even in this light to moderate wind.
It is absurdly easy to build and sails very well. Have a look at the video at the bottom of this page.
These are 10 boats built in three days from flat packs on the Island of Cebu by families and business teams. 10 boats were built complete for the same cost of importing one International Laser dinghy. 30 people sailing for the price of getting one sailing
It has been titled the PDGoose but we are showing our intention to be welcoming to any square boat variation. PD Goose, OZ Goose, the cruising Ooze Gooze – all are welcome.
Because of the close family relationship we welcome all varieties of Ducks to any event and also to contribute here.
We also are forming relationships with the groups that run the great Sail Oklahoma and Texas 200 events.
